MAEL / SYMBIOSIS

Thesis project i did based on the usage of technology as an active part of the project, not just as a mere passive instrument we use to communicate.

Symbiosis answers the possibility to create a language that is born, lives, and evolves in different results in the digital sphere.

Aside from the communication aspects, MAEL is a DJ and obviously live shows are a grat part of his work.

That's why i decided to dedicate part of the project to the developement of an interface able to generate and customize visuals.

This visuals are audio-reactive and have been designed to be projected on the walls of the venues where MAEL is performing, creating a contact point between sound and visuals.

Animated 3d video i made for 20025XS in collaboration with @lollofromOS (Character design and modeling) and @hardmetacore (Backgrounds, scenes). Compositing and VFX made on After Effects, external datamosh is then embedded in the video.

Some experiments i made using TouchDesigner. The concept behind those experiments was to use generative systems to apply morphing on live video inputs

PROCEDURAL TEXT GENERATOR

Another experiment using TouchDesigner. The concept behind this one was to use generative systems to apply morphing on 3d typography, which was in the first place acting as a "magnet" for the particle system itself. The static results reveal how turbulence and attraction can be used to create new styles everytime starting from a very simple sans-serif font.

Growing up in the late 90’s made me a huge technology fan, from videogames, movies to scientific innovations applied in different fields. As a consequence of that, i started to get interested in the world of new media arts and creative coding that bring two big subject that i love, art and technology, toghether.
